Abhishek Kapoor Kai Po Che was a film based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel 3 Mistakes Of My Life. The film was a story of three friends and is set during the infamous Gujarat riots of 2002. Ishaan (Sushant Singh Rajput), Omi (Amit Sadh) and Govind (Rajkummar Rao) are three best friends who dream of building their very own sports shop and sports academy. The three friends come across a young talent named Ali Hashmi (Digvijay Deshmukh), who Ishaan feels could be India’s next cricket star if trained well. But, when the Hindus and Muslims in the city turn against each other it affects the lives of all four in a drastic way. Sushant, Rajkummar and Amit all do an incredible job in their respective roles and that’s why the Sushant Singh Rajput movie scores big.

2. Shuddh Desi Romance

In today’s age, commitment phobia has become a rather common feeling. Even though a couple might love each other a lot, the thought of spending the rest of their lives together does give them cold feet. Shuddh Desi Romance was a love triangle that featured Sushant Singh Rajput, Parineeti Chopra, and Vaani Kapoor. Love, attraction, relationship, commitment… Shuddh Desi Romance was a perfect film describing the thinking of millennials in the relationship today. Despite a short screen time, Rishi Kapoor manages to impress with his performance in the Sushant Singh Rajput movie.

3. PK 2014


Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, PK was a film based on an alien who arrives on earth and ends up losing the device needed to get back home. PK (Aamir Khan) was sent to earth by his home planet to understand how we function as a society. During his time here, he witnesses the faith that people have in God, who they believe can solve any problem. Thinking god was an actual person, PK sets out to track him down. Later on, he realises that certain people are misusing the faith of society in God for their own benefit. With the help of a journalist named Jaggu (Anushka Sharma), PK manages to expose them. His actions also help Jaggu reunite with her long lost love Sarfaraz Yousuf (Sushant Singh Rajput) and clear out the misunderstanding that led to their separation in the first place. The Sushant Singh film put up a mirror to how we function as a society and pointed out how we still follow some baseless rituals just because we’re told that they’re right.

4. Detective Byomkesh Bakshi 2015


A strong storyline, crisp editing and stellar acting are essentials for any spy thriller to be a success. Fortunately, Detective Byomkesh Bakshi had them all. In this Sushant Singh Rajput movie, he plays the character which was considered as India’s version of Sherlock Holmes so the character already was pretty popular amongst the audience and the idea of watching it on the big screen was enough to catch people’s attention. Sushant Singh Rajput completely sinked his teeth into the character especially getting his dialect spot on.

5. M.S Dhoni: The Untold Story 2016


M.S. Dhoni
is a name that needs no introduction. The cricketer has led India to its second world cup win, no.1 spot on the world rankings in test and ODI and is regarded as India’s most successful captain of all time thanks to the highest win percentage. In the Sushant Singh movie, the. actor played the titular role portraying the journey of Dhoni from a ticket collector in Ranchi to being the leader of the Indian cricket team. A special mention goes out to the film’s visual effects team since they recreate some of Dhoni’s most memorable moments on the pitch with Sushant Singh Rajput by using the original footage.

6. Raabta 2017

Raabta was a film that dealt with the idea of reincarnation. Set in present times, Shiv (Sushant Singh Rajput) and Saira (Kriti Sanon) are shown to have an inseparable connection. Everything seems to be going smooth until Saira crosses paths with a man who claims to be her lover from her previous life and would stop at no means to have her again in this one. The film was hampered by a bad screenplay and weak storyline which even the actors could not save with their performances. Although songs like Ik Vaari, Main Tera Boyfriend and Raabta became pretty popular amongst the crowd, it wasn’t enough to attract them to the theatres for the Sushant Singh Rajput movie.

7. Kedarnath 2018


Sushant Singh Rajput had a reunion with his Kai Po Che! Director Abhishek Kapoor in Kedarnath, which also was the debut film for Sara Ali Khan. The film was a love story between a Hindu girl named Mukku (Sara Ali Khan) and a muslim man named Mansoor Khan (Sushant Singh Rajput). The two face several obstacles from society due to their different religions and political standards. Later, when the sudden rains of the 2013 Uttarakhand floods devastate the regions, their love is put through another test. While the Sushant Singh Rajput film didn’t do wonders at the box-office, the audience sure loved the leading star's chemistry in the film.

8. Sonchiriya 2019


While Sushant Singh Rajput already showcased his versatility with his previous work, he took it a step further by starring in the dacoit drama Sonchiriya. Along with Sushant, the film featured a stellar cast including the likes of Sushant Singh Rajput, Bhumi Pednekar, Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey and Ashutosh Rana. The Sushant Singh Rajput movie was set in Chambal Valley, Uttar Pradesh and followed the story of a group off dacoits who managed to terrorise the heartlands of India at one time.

9. Chhichhore


When Dangal director Nitesh Tiwari announced his next film, people were naturally excited to see what he has in store this time. Starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Shraddha Kapoor, Varun Sharma, Naveen Polishetty, Prateik Babbar, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Tushar Pandey and Saharsh Kumar Shukla, Chhichhore was a film based on a group of college friends. After Anni (Sushant Singh Rajput) and Maya’s (Shraddha Kapoor) son tries to end his life, the two have a college reunion of sorts where all their friends come over and talk about why it is more important to give your everything without worrying about the result. The Sushant Singh movie had plenty of humour but also came with an emotional quotient that had an underlying message.

10. Drive


Directed by Dostana’s Tarun Mansukhani, Drive was a heist based film drawing inspirations from classics like the ocean series and the Italian job. The film featured Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandes in the lead roles. Drive followed a group of people who plan to pull off a heist of 300kg gold from the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The Sushant Singh Rajput movie faced multiple delays and eventually, the production house decided to go ahead with a digital release. Drive was severely criticized by critics as well as the audience for the weak storyline and extremely poor visual effects.
