It’s been 16 years since the iconic Kal Ho Naa Ho released. The film continues to move us every time we watch it. Aman’s exuberance hides a deep pain. The pain of his imminent death due to a serious heart disease, the pain of losing his love, the pain of not revealing it all…

We are told about Aman's illness at the interval point. But Naina and Rohit discover this terrible truth right towards the end. Naina and Rohit are shattered just as is Aman when he sees his life dimming.
“Naina, is dil ki mohabbat mein bohot taakat hai, lekin yeh dil bohot kamzor hai”
The toughest lesson that we learned from the film is that it’s hardest to let go of a loved one and traumatic to live with those beautiful memories. This lesson is given by Rohit.

The scene when Rohit and Naina get to know the truth about Aman’s fatal state and sacrifice and the intense encounter between Aman and Rohit can still give you goose bumps.

The final farewell is heart-wrenching when Rohit and Naina, now married, visit Aman in the hospital. No words… but just the emotions and the eloquence in their silent expressions is enough to immortalise the film.
